Hey all, I'm finally writing something in this blog... after failing miserably in my attempts at trying to pen something down regularly =) Do be gracious with me la! But hey, I was really inspired by what Dawn shared... Thank you for baring your soul with such transparency. It is because of testimonies like yours that we remember how frail we are and yet how gracious and amazing our God can be to make a way out whenever there seems to be no way!

Just wanted to share some of my own thoughts as i reflect upon a sermon i heard today in school. It was a time of refreshing for me especially as most of you know by now that i have been quite stressed out with school work and assignments lately... work seems to be this insurmountable mountain that I struggle to climb, even though as Bible College students and future ministry leaders, you would have thought that we're able to handle it better, right? =) Anyway, just as i was mulling over a probable burn out, lack of vision and spiritual dryness, God spoke to me through this wonderful speaker in my school chapel. He said that we are all so familiar with the saying that God helps those who help themselves. But what happens when we are unable to help ourselves? What happens when we fall so weak and far below that we have no more energy and strength left to keep going on? Would God still help us then?? And this is our hope- that it is especially in those moments when we can't do anything for ourselves [or for anyone else] that God would lift us up in our times of need/ trouble/ burn out/ sorrow/ pain/ brokenness. It is just as what the prophet Isaiah says in

Isaiah 40:29 "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak."

Our God gives us strength especially when we are weak and weary. Even though i feel helpless when i think of all the assigments yet undone and the other many responsibilities i have to bear, I am greatly comforted to know that God cares for me, watches over me and will see my through it all. So if you're feeling hopelessly weak and helpless, take comfort that God is our everpresent help, our faithful deliverer, comforter and friend. Take courage, take heart- He will save you when you cry out to Him =).

Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

Title this The Chicken Soup Entry with Better Spices

Now that the March hols are here to stay for a while, I am glad to be back here to give you my 2 cents worth of thoughts on 2007 so far.

Basically, I think we all started Year 2007 on a good foot. We ended 2006 with ICA Camp, and I felt that it was all God-planned. For most of us, ICA Camp was an enriching journey where we could really experience the presence of our Father working in our lives. It did ignite a fire in many of us to want to know Him more. And Amen to that. (: In other words, it prepared us for what He has installed in 2007.

If I hadn't remembered wrongly, at the first session of youth cell on Sunday, May wanted us to pen down our expectations for 2007. Not so much on new year resolutions this time but more on what we expect to see ourselves in 2007. There's a difference right. That's not the point anyway.

From the girls' side, when we sit around and shared our expectations, I realised that most of us are expecting 2007 to be a year of miracle. For Sal and Penny, their 'O' results, Sam, her big As and myself, a confirmation for a place in j2.

The results have been out and although I did not managed to earn my position in j2, I am really glad that He has put me back in j1. On one hand, He knows how much I have to brush up on my foundation and that the previous combination I was taking wasn't bringing out the best in me.

Yknow they always say that "there's a reason for everything", but really, do you buy that? Even at bad times when everything seems to be going downhill, do we still think and smile to ourselves, shrug and say,"everything happens for a reason". Unless of course if we don't put any effort to whatever-that-has-to-be-done, we can't expect any good results. We reap what we sow, but what happens if we keep trying and there's nothing to celebrate for at the end?

Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save,
nor His ear too dull to hear.
Isaiah 59:1

A friend of mine reminded me this song - With Christ in the vessel - when I was feeling really awful at one time. I remember singing that song and learning the actions for it in Sunday School but never really pondered on the lyrics. And as I look back, we can indeed smile at the storm.

It's assuring to know that for all the storms we face in life, God is with us because we are His children. And it's even more assuring to know that for all the storms we face or even about to, they are all God-sent. They are after all meant to build us up to be stronger christians for harder challenges.

A righteous man may have many troubles,
but the Lord delivers him from them all.
Psam 34:19

Bottomline? We can still look forward to a year years of mircales ahead.

You are the God who performs miracles;
You display Your power among the peoples.
Psalm 77:14

vision

The Joshua Connection youth aims to...

:: Love God with all our hearts, soul, mind and strength (Deut 6:5);
"Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength."

:: Love the body of Christ through fellowship, discipleship and service (1 Cor 12:27; Eph 4:11-13; Gal 5:13);
"Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” 1 Cor 12:27

"It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." Eph 4:11-13

"You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love." Gal 5:13

:: Love others by sharing the gospel and our lives (Matt 5:14-16; 29:18-20).
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." Matt 5:14-16

"Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matt 29:18-20
